COURSE DESCRIPTION

UPDATED FOR 2024.

The 48km course might be the shortest distance on offer at the Convict 100 but it isn’t to be taken lightly. It joins the other two distances on a long ride out into the wilderness and back. The front riders will be sprinting along the first 12km in the valley, the rest of the field holding back to save their legs. They will be needed! The climb up Browns Trail starts steep, knuckle down and grind your way up. There is a false flat before it kicks up again, as with all great climbs, it is steepest at the top. The Aid Station for the 48km riders is at the top and will be a welcome sight.

Fill up with water, grab something to eat and start your way back home. Up, down, up, down, up and then downnnnnnnnnnnn the fabled Blue Hill, you will be fatigued so ride sensibly and use those brakes! Suddenly you are back on the valley floor, a nice quiet farm road as the 100km and 67km riders join from the left. Spirits will be high, find yourself a nice group if you can and share the pace making back to St Albans and the sprint across the finish line before settling in to cheer on your fellow riders as they arrive home.
