EVENT OVERVIEW:

Event Name: Convict 100 – Mountain Bike Event

Event Details & impact on the community:

Road Closures & Traffic Management:

This event sees a large number of vehicles travelling to St Albans along both Settlers Rd and St Albans Rd, as well as a smaller number along Wollombi Rd. Event participants receive communication regarding travelling safely along country roads and watching out for wildlife.

• Increased traffic volumes can be expected on Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon aligning with participants arriving and then departing the event. Please allow extra time if travelling to or from St Albans during these times.
• Ferries: The ferry operator is briefed on the event and both ferries will be operating on Wisemans Ferry both on Friday Night and Saturday morning to assist with expected traffic volumes
• Traffic Management & Parking: St Albans RFS volunteers will be assisting with traffic management and parking within St Albans and the surrounds. Event participants will be parking in various camping areas and paddocks around the village. See St Albans Event Map for more information
• Road Closures: Wharf St between Bulga St & Wollombi Rd will be closed from 4pm on Friday afternoon and will reopen by 6pm on Saturday afternoon. This is to allow for the safe setup of the event site as well as catering for pedestrians moving around the village. Residents on Wharf St will still be able to access their homes. Additionally, traffic will be stopped for short windows on Wollombi Rd at St Albans Bridge, and Bulga St at Wollombi Rd on Saturday morning to allow for each start wave to proceed safely.
• Cyclists on Roads throughout the area on Saturday. Warning signage will be deployed in key areas. All motorists are asked to please take care when driving in these areas and particularly when passing cyclists.
  • Wollombi Rd between St Albans Bridge and the North end of St Albans Common from 7am to approximately midday
  • Wrights Creek Road from 9am to approximately 5pm
  • Settlers Rd between Shepherds Gulley and St Albans from 9am until approximately 5pm.
  • Volunteers from St Albans RFS will be controlling traffic at the junction of Settlers Rd and Wrights Creek Road to ensure the safety of cyclists and vehicles. Please expect short delays.

Safety Measures

• Volunteers from St Albans RFS will be assisting by providing traffic management and course marshalling at key junctions and road crossings.
• They will be supported by event staff as well as professional medical response staff.

Minimising Environmental Impact:

• At Max Adventure, we are committed to sustainability. Measures include waste reduction including minimising single use products, and providing recycling collection bins throughout the event area. We encourage all participants to dispose of waste responsibly.

• We work closely with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to residents, businesses and workers. Communication will be sent closer to the event to keep everyone informed of any potential impacts on local traffic or access.
